MORE IN YOU!

For so long I have felt that I had something to offer the world but I couldn't put my finger on it. Of course, I had many ideas, but nothing just felt completely right. I always had slight doubts. Well....I'm proud to inform you that I've found it. I've found my niche. I am a motivator. In other words, I love to encourage people. More specifically, I love to encourage people to be the best that they can be and define their purpose.

I didn't really like the cards I was dealt in life. I actually would have folded if I had a choice. I always felt like I was out of place. Almost like I was born in the wrong area. I felt like I was more upper or middle class, but I was in poverty. I was always trying to find strategies to get out of the hole I was born in...

Thank God that I made it out! My perspective has changed. I've learned a lot during my struggles. So, now I'm ready to help others. I want to let people know that you can win the battle in your mind. You can become who you want to be. One of the keys to success is building your confidence and self esteem. The key is believing that you can become better. You must believe in your dream, or no one else will. The hard part is that you must believe in it when it seems as if no one else does.

I started the website, More In You, because I want to encourage you to believe that there's more inside of each and every one of us. I want to help motivate you to reach your dream by building a community of people who encourage each other.

If you need some motivation...become a member of the site. If you need encouragement...become a member. If you just want to become a better you...become a member. Take a look at what others are doing to encourage themselves. You can have discussions with other people dealing with similar issues. You can watch motivational videos. You can post your favorite motivational quotes. I look forward to seeing you @ http://www.moreinyou.webs.com/!

Just believe...there's more in you.

Success Stories

How many of you are the believe it when you see it types? Great, I am too. Because of this I know that success stories encourage and motivate people. If you are like me, you want to see someone else doing what you would like to do. For me, seeing it is believing it. If she can do it, I can too. If he can do it, I know I can.

Let me tell you some of the things that I have done to let you know what I'm talking about.

Success Story
I got pregnant at 15, but I still graduated from high school on time. In fact, I went to junior college while in high school. I also got accepted and graduated from college on time. (four years) On top of that, I got pregnant again my senior year of undergraduate school, and I still graduated on time. Now...I'm three classes away from finishing my masters degree. Oh, I didn't mention the third child that I got pregnant with in graduate school. The moral of the story is that having children cannot stop you from finishing school. If you have the drive and determination, you can do it. I did and I know that you can too.

What others perceived as the beginning of failure was actually the beginning of my success story. When I got pregnant at 15 people said I would rely on the system the rest of my life. They said my life was ruined. I guess they were wrong. I could say so much more about other areas of my life, but I will have to save some of it for my book. What did they say about you?

What's your success story? I'm organizing my first book, Just Believe: There's More in You. I would love to share your success story if you will let me. If you would rather e-mail me your success story, my e-mail address is detrawilson@hotmail.com.

Add a comment or share your story. Encourage someone today!

7 Tips to Prepare for Success and Satisfaction

“If you don’t prepare, you won’t succeed.” Everybody Hates Chris

Being a success takes hard work, but you can do it!

These tips are for people who value self improvement and are committed to growth and development. So...for all of you go-getters who are on your next new venture, apply these tips and it will make the journey a little less rocky.

1. Do your research.

Whatever it is that you want to do or be, you must understand thoroughly. It is worth the effort to take the time to learn and perfect your craft.

2. Set up your support system.

It is virtually impossible to be successful without other people. Let’s face it. We need people. It’s important to network with others that have similar passions and develop a group of people who will support you. Who knows, you may even become a part of their support system too?

3. Develop a plan.

How are you going to go somewhere when you don’t know where you’re going? Whether informal or formal, you must envision your future. You must see it when no one else does. It may be helpful to make a collage of places you want to go, people you want to meet, and symbols of the things that you want in life.

4. Be aware of the importance of balance.

Success is minimal compared to satisfaction. The person who is happy with little is more admirable than the person who is miserable with a lot. You cannot focus all of your energy on success because you won’t have room for other important areas of your life. Make sure you have time for all of the things that are important to you. If you are unsure of what’s important to you, imagine the images that would run through your mind before you die. For me that would be my husband, children, extended family, and people that I want to help.

5. Put forth a genuine effort.

Many times during the preparation faze, people are too relaxed. You shouldn’t be so uptight that you become stressed, but you must take preparation for your future seriously. Preparation will lead you to your destiny, so work hard.

6. Don’t procrastinate.

People are waiting on what you have to offer, so you must not blow it off. Just because you are not where you want to be does not mean that you are not on a schedule. You never know when the golden opportunity will present itself. Therefore, you must be on schedule.

7. Clarify what you want.

I’ve mentioned this principle before. You must know what you want. If you know what you want, it is bound to occur. It’s just a matter of time. Remember that you cannot complain about what you don’t have when you don’t know what you want. Sometimes you have an idea of what you want, but you should be able to specifically say what it is that you want from life. For instance, let’s say you want a house. What does the house look like? How much does it cost? Where is it located? Even if you don’t know how it could happen, don’t be afraid to dream. I have personal testimonies that this principle works. Know what you want!

I guess watching TV is useful after all. I got all of this inspiration from watching Everybody Hates Chris! In conclusion, success comes from opportunity and preparation.” (Everybody Hates Chris) Your opportunity is waiting for you, but you must be ready for it. I would hate for you to miss your time to shine because you weren’t prepared. Prepare yourself to be the best!

7 Ways to Stay Focused

The end of the year is drawing near. If you're like me, you have high expectations for the new year. You are evaluating your goals and setting new ones. Some of you may even have an action plan for 2010. If you don't have a plan, get one. If you don't have motivation, get motivated. Some of you may say if I could, I would. However, you are the only one who can motivate you. All someone on the outside does for you is lead you to your own internal motivation. You have got to believe in yourself more than anyone does. So the more that you believe in yourself, the further you will be able to go. So as we go into the year of 2010, lets think about how we are going to finish what we've started. Let's think about how we are going to do things differently than we have before.

The only way that you are going to be able to move further than you have before is if you stay focused. Let's look at some ways that you can stay focused so that you can not only finish but you will perfect what you have started.

1. Believe in yourself.
The number one way to help you stay focused is knowing that regardless of your circumstances, you will make it. You cannot let anyone else tell you what you should be doing and how you should do it. When you find out what your purpose is, don't let anyone distract you by giving you unwanted advice.

2. Be patient with yourself and your circumstances.
If you've been listening to what I have been saying throughout my blogs, you know that I believe in hard work and perseverance. Therefore, you must take your time and know and believe that things will change in due time. It may be tomorrow, the next day, or the next year. You owe it to yourself to keep trying because you never know when your time will come.

3. Evaluate your agenda.
As you think about your goals, you must always think about your hidden agenda. Why do you want to do what you want to do? If you know why you want to do it, then you will not allow distractions get the best of you.

4. Maintain your support system.
Without a support system, you will not be able to get far in life. Believe it or not, we all need each other. If you have people around you that know what your goals are, they will hold you accountable. The very fact that you know that they know should encourage you to do more with yourself. People are expecting more from you, and it's time that you give them what they are asking for.

5. Maintain balance.
Without the proper balance, you will eventually fall on your face. You must always be aware of what's important in life. If that means that you need to make a list of the seven most important things in your life do it. Doing this will help you to allot the proper amount of time to each area.

6. Beat discouragement before it beats you.
Discouragement will come. You will ask yourself, "Why am I doing this anyway?" You'll say, "What's the point of all of this?" Okay, let's hit discouragement in the mouth before it gets to you. Tell discouragement that you have something to offer the world. Tell discouragement when he comes that the point is that you can't leave this planet without doing your part.

7. Keep it moving.
With time, movement develops a momentum. If you are already moving, you don't want to stop because it will take you longer to get your momentum back up again. Consistent progress is encouraging and helps you stay focused.

So as we go into the year of 2010, lets stay focused. If you want to hear more about one of the ways to stay focused, leave a comment and I will make a mental note. Thanks for reading.

More Is Not Better

The end of the year is near. Some people are excited  about 2010 and others are a little depressed. Many of us that are go-getters get discouraged when we don't reach our goals when we think we will. We try the best that we can and we expect to get results. If you're like me, you expect to get results fast. However, lasting success does not come over night.

If you don't believe me, research it. Find out about the history of the person you admire most. For instance, my favorite English professor told me that he was painting houses when he graduated undergraduate school. I was shocked. I just assumed that he went the traditional route and he was always on a clear path of success. My point is don't assume that people you admire had an overnight success. Success takes hard work.

Furthermore, lasting successs takes work and patience. You must be patient with yourself to achieve the kind of success that you want. You want to be able to enjoy your life when you become more successful. If you suddenly become an over night success, will you be able to handle it?

It's like the saying, "More money, more problems." With great gain, comes a greater responsibility. Remember that on your way up to the top. If you change your perspective, you will begin to value your baby steps. You will begin to appreciate the time that you are spending preparing for your magnificent future.

So during this holiday season, treasure where you have been in 2009. Many of us have had our share of struggles this year, but remember that each mistake has contributed to your growth. As long as you are doing your best, you are right on schedule. You might not know how all of the pieces fit together just yet, but eventually you will have a beautiful picture of your destiny.

3 Tips to Find Balance

When you begin to make progress toward your goals, the excitement runs all through your body. You can't stop thinking. You know that your moment has arrived and it is just a matter of time before you get to your destination. How exciting!

This is all good but this experience requires balance. It's already been established that your destiny is near and it's only a matter of time. Therefore, there is no need to rush anything. Just relax and take it easy.

If you are having trouble doing that, note these tips.

1. Get organized.
Create a schedule and stick to it. There is no need of planning if you don't follow through with the plan.

2. Prioritize
If necessary, ask yourself several times a day. How important is it that I do ____________ today?

3. Set Limits
Even though being successful is exciting, you have to know when to stop. When you are working on a project remember to stick to your schedule. If you have to ask yourself, "Will it change anything if I finish this today?" Usually the answer is no.

I have been personally working through this, so leave a comment if you would like me to elaborate on these tips. We can work through this together.

A part of being satisfied is maintaining balance. Remember our goal is Success and Satisfaction, not one without the other. Without balance, you will never be satisfied.

Are You Ready for Change?

You have been dreaming big dreams and expanding your horizons. You have been encouraged and you want more for your life. You have been researching and putting the pieces together, and now you're amazed at how big your dream is. Wow...could this really be?

Yes, it's true. There is more inside of you, and it is waiting to come out. Do you believe it? Do you really think you could be that person in your dreams? Could it be that you are transforming right before your very own eyes? Look in the mirror, you might look a little different. When you change on the inside, you change on the outside. When you change the way you think, you change the way you look. Try it and see.

For instance, I developed self confidence this year. I have learned to accept who I am and love it! As a result, people that I haven't seen for a while give me compliments saying things like, "You look like a grown woman now." People could see the maturity in the way that I carry myself. I was puzzled at first because I haven't dramatically changed physically. But the moral to the story is that what's inside of you illuminates on the outside of you.

I know you want to walk in your destiny. I know you want more for yourself. I know you want to be better than who you are today. The question is, "Are you ready for change?" Are you ready to stop being the person that puts off until tomorrow what you could do today? Are you ready to stop saying what you are going to do, and do what you need to do? Are you ready to drop those old habits and develop new ones?

It's all up to you. Even though I love coaching people, I don't think that a coach can change you. Your biggest influence is you. You are the one who will determine what you will and will not do. You will decide whether you will reach your goal or not. You will decide if you are successful or not.

After it's all said and half way done, are you ready for change? Finish what you started and make a vow to yourself that you will change at this very moment.

Leave a comment if you would like to make a public vow.
